A love of yoga and the outdoors

About me: I ~ love my dog and talk to him like he understands me, jumped off the corporate ladder, started a non-profit, took a one-year solo cross-country trip, am going to start teaching myself how to play guitar, and have mourned a parent. I floss everyday in the shower, know how to pull a perfect shot of espresso, eat organic, support local farmers, am naturally introverted, and love the comfort of home. I recently made a career change to become a holistic nurse. My hope down the road is to introduce more of a holistic medicine model into low-income and refugee communities. Living a healthy lifestyle is important to me. Running trails, hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and swimming keep my body in shape. Yoga and meditation help me balance and allows me to constantly learn about myself. I love art and embrace my creative side; throwing clay and make many things from scratch (Kombucha tea, amazing flax seed crackers, pumpkin pancakes, coconut deodorant, stevia toothpaste - are to name a few). The wilderness and nature have been where I seek refuge and has been my best teacher. There is a clarity and joy when I am hiking/running on the trails. All the cares of my life are forgotten when I'm immersed in blue skies, green grass, and lush forests. I enjoy the outdoors for the freedom, not identity. I smile when running in the rain, curse when falling off my mountain bike, and bounce when somersaulting on my snowboard. Community and connection are very important to me. I don't have a huge network of friends, but the friendships I do have are loyal, substantive, and not taken for granted. I am an emotional, passionate person. I think it's necessary to feel both the pleasant and the unpleasant emotions, and not to distract or busy ourselves in the painful times. Communication, collaborative critical thinking, and reciprocity are non-negotiable in a relationship ! Good luck and have fun.
