revolution anyone?

I'm searching. for a lot of things. searching for myself, for cosmic consciousness, for a vegan mate, for creativity, for a simple home , for a solution to hatred, ignorance, and hunger, for a lighter material load. My dad killed himself when I was eighteen. That's when I started to change, or rather, started to become the person I know as myself. My heart softened and hardened. Softened for the people who had experienced loss like mine, and for the people in this world who are the recipients of injustice. But it hardened for my mother (how could she let this happen?), for my dad (how could he do this?), and hardened deepest in response to the pain in my soul. I ran in the opposite direction and left the pain to grow into an infected, draining abcsess. I drank and drank and drank, while succeeding without much effort through the next few years of school. Two years ago, a death and dying professor told me I needed to deal with his death, or be consumed with pathology. I chose to deal. I wrote. I cried. I screamed. I withdrew. I drank. I smoked. I cursed my father�s name while I tore through the most superficial layers of hurt encasing my heart. And somewhere, sometime, during that period, I broke free. I came to acknowledge that no matter how many times I grieve, there will always be more grief. I gained perspective. I began to understand, a little, how hard this life is, for so many people. I began to grasp that everyone has a personal tragedy, and that whether the tragedy was handed down from a tsunami or an unkind parent, the wounds are all the same. The emotion is pure, and the hurt is raw, real, and in need of acknowledgment. I dream of a small home/hut in the bush, connected to a free clinic, next to a large garden full of produce for the people, in the vicinity of a sanctuary for the animals.
