Kansas Veggies?

I'm a vegetarian trying to go vegan in the middle of the beef belt, so its tough going with little support and less understanding. I don't know another vegan or vegetarian in real life, so it would be great to find some IRL to have some social interaction with. I'm usually layed back listening more than talking, except when topics I'm passionate about come up, and then I can talk endlessly. That could be anything from the treatment of animals, to philosophy and comparative religion, to quantum physics to politics. I can come off serious at first, albiet with a sarcastic nature, but once I get to know someone and relax I can be a total goof. I can't stand people who are close minded and refuse to consider other point of views. I read alot and probably spend too much time on the computer, but when I can, I like to get out in nature, be it hiking or a trip to the zoo. I've learned to judge people on who they are, not what they look like, do for a living, or where they are in life, after having gone through many ups and downs in my own life and not being where I expected to be by now. I think those you care about are what are important in life, not things, not being rich, not fitting in, but having people you can share your life with. I think the world is a pretty messed up place, but its largely due to ignorance, and that if people were educated better about things, and not indocterated to fit in, the world would be a better place. I believe that people need to open up thier circle of empathy. I believe one person can change the world. Intellegence, understanding and compassion are by far the most attractive traits in someone. Arrogance and willfull ignorance and hate the least.
